When inputting text by a keyboard with mechanical keys, computer experts can do eyes-free text input relaying on the tactile feedback. On the other hand, eyes-free text input with a software keyboard is difficult even if the experts use it. We propose a novel eyes-free text input technique for Japanese Kana characters. Our technique is based on flick input on numerical keypad. The feature is that the numerical keypad is not laid on fixed location, but shown on the location where a user tapped. This technique enables to do eyes-free text input with only one hand. This paper describes the design and implementation of text input technique for Japanese Kana characters.
